DEAR DREAMERS
Getting your first car is exciting but at the same time, overwhelming. Thank goodness, I did not have to go all through that as it was my husband who did all the research. If you are considering on getting your first car, then read ahead.

CHOOSING YOUR FIRST CAR
1. Research is a must in getting a first car but consider the brand if you are planning to sell the car in the future.
2. Consider what type of car you will get, if it’s for the family, for work or for yourself. Smaller cars usually cannot go on long drives because of their small engine.
3. If you don’t have the time to have your car washed frequently, avoid the following colors for your car paint: black, red and white.
4. If you want to save on money, choose a fuel economy car to save on gas.

FOR THOSE WHO PLAN TO TAKE A LOAN
5. Go from bank to bank and ask their interest rates as well as if the chattel mortgage can be waived. Some banks offer free first month amortization.
6. Ask the car dealer for discounts, promos and freebies such as car accessory.
7. If you don’t have enough money to pay for the full price but have a substantial amount of money. Try shortening the loan (1 year) to save money from interest.

MAINTENANCE
8. Always get your preventive maintenance schedule on time to prevent future damage and problems.
9. Always check your tire pressure.
10. Don’t wait to have your gas go empty to refill your gas, it will damage the fuel pump.
11. Go to reputable gas stations, in the Philippines, some gas stations mix water in petroleum.
