INTRODUCING COOKMUNITY’S #CREATEYOURPLATE BY AJINOMOTO FOR THE MODERN MOM

Dear Dreamers
Teaching our children to eat healthy is the number one priority of most parents as we want to prevent our child from being both undernourished and overweight or being obese. #CreateYourPlate with Cookmunity by Ajinomoto Philippines answers this problem, practicing its advocacy of healthy eating to aid in alleviating Double Burden of Malnutrition among Filipinos.

FROM A BROADER PERSPECTIVE, THE ACTIVITY SUPPORTED AJINOMOTO PHILIPPINES CORPORATION’S MISSION TO “BRING HAPPINESS TO EVERY FILIPINO THROUGH ITS HIGH QUALITY PRODUCTS AND SERVICES THAT MAKE EVERY MEAL DELICIOUS, NUTRITIOUS, AND ENJOYABLE.”

PINGGANG PINOY
We spent the first half of our afternoon with Ms. Jovina “Jovy” Sandoval from the Department of Science and Technology’s Food and Nutrition Research Institute (FNRI), who shared her expertise through a short refresher on the institute’s Pinggang Pinoy Project which she also helped develop. The Pinggang Pinoy is a visual guide that conveys the right food group proportions − Carbohydrates, Protein, Vegetables and Fruits − on a per-meal basis to meet the body’s energy and nutrient needs.

LIVE COOKING DEMONSTRATION
A live cooking demonstration by Ajinomoto Philippines’ Chef Jeffrey Chang featured three of Cookmunity’s most well-liked recipes: Broccoli Soup for moms who want to add more vegetables to their kids’ meals creatively; One-Minute Vegetable Stir-Fry for modern moms who have limited time to cook; and finally, Arroz Valenciana for adventurous moms who willing to try to something new.

In between chopping and the sauteing, Ms. Sofia Conejos, who leads the culinary nutrition team of Ajinomoto Philippines, also whipped out miniature samples of the three dishes for guests to taste.

THOUGHTS ABOUT THE FOOD
I simply love the broccoli soup, it was savory and it left us wanting for more. We compared two samples of vegetable stir-fry both made with equal amounts of oyster sauce, one was made with Ajinomoto’s Sarsaya Oyster Sauce and one with a competitor’s oyster sauce. To be frank, the one made with the competitor’s oyster sauce was rather bland. On the other hand, the Sarsaya Oyster Sauce version was so savoury and full of flavor, you can clearly taste the seafood taste of oyster.

We were given a sample of how a Pinggang Pinoy style dish should look like. It was a smaller version and it was so cute!

With our curiosity satisfied and our cravings fulfilled, our #CreateYourPlate afternoon was capped off with a simple Pinggang Pinoy game!
