MY KOREAN MAKEUP TRANSFORMATION WITH THE ALTHEA MAKEUP MAGIC BOX

DEAR DREAMERS
There is just something about makeovers, it is just so mesmerizing watching makeup transformation videos which is why today I will be sharing with you my own transformation makeup from haggard mommy to less haggard mommy (haha). I will be using the products from the Althea Makeup Magic Box, it really has an appropriate name because the transformation is just magical.

On the course of my pregnancy, I avoided makeup for my baby, only wearing it once or twice on my last trimester, at the E! Bloggers Ball and some other time I have forgotten. I really missed wearing and trying new makeup but as I was busy with taking care of my baby, I found it hard to make time to wear makeup. However, thanks to Althea, I was able to rediscover my love for makeup and find makeup that is easy to use and hardly time-consuming.

W. LAB COLOR MASTER COVER KIT
My first encounter with color corrector was when I used the Tony Moly primer cushion from the Romantic Date Box. Little did I know that there was a whole palette for color correction, each with its own task. At first, I was intimidated by the idea of color correction, but after using it twice, I found it much easier to use. Now, I feel like my makeup is no longer complete without using color correctors.

Purple base: cancels out yellowish areas. I used it below my lips, on my forehead and on my acne scars.
Green base: cancels out reddish areas. I used it around my nose, on my chin and on my acne.
Pink base: I used it to brighten the area under my eyes.
Ivory base: I used it to conceal dark areas on the corners of my mouth.
Beige base: I used it around my eyelids as a primer and on my eyebrows to make it look straighter.
Brown base: I was unable to use this but on Althea’s website, it is said to be used for contouring.

Application: Prior to applying foundation, I applied the purple, green, pink and ivory concealer. After applying the Secret Key Tattoo Cover Cushion, I applied the beige base.

Tips: The mistakes I had the first time were my failure to blend the concealers well and not applying enough pink base under my eyes. It’s better to get the pink base really under the eyes. I prefer using my hands to apply the concealer as it is much more precise. For stubborn spots such as acne, dabbing is best to maintain the thickness of the concealer.

THE SEAM ECO SOUL CONTOUR PALETTE
Contouring and highlighting works wonders for the overall makeup look. Despite being aware of this fact, this will be my first (and second) attempt at trying the whole contouring shebang.
Dark contour: To achieve a V-face shape, I applied it on the sides of my face.
Medium contour: I applied it on the sides of my nose bridge to make it look sharper and on my temples to make my forehead look rounder.
Highlighter: I used it on my nosecheek bonesforeheadcupid’s bow and the inner corners of my eyes.

ARITAUM SUGARBALL VELVET BLUSHER #04 PEACH CRUSH
The blusher comes in a nice soft shade of pink and a matte finish. Swatched on my hand, it is hardly visible but on the face, it leaves a flushed look. I like to apply it from the apple of cheeks until the area below my eyes.

ETUDE HOUSE MY BEAUTY TOOL EYELASH LONG LASH #1
The false lashes that came in the box was the most natural one among the four types. I probably should have used a tweezer to apply it for accuracy. I was unable to use it on the second makeup look as I have not found the time to clean it. I had a workmate before who cleaned her false lashes diligently and it lasted for months.

On the left side of the photo above, I am wearing the false lashes while the right side has none.

BEAUTY PEOPLE FIX PEARL PIGMENT PACT #01 SSUM LIGNT
Glittery things just have an appeal to me and this pearl pigment is no exception. I found that applying with the hands allows the color to shine through more than using a brush. For the natural makeup look, the false lashes and pearl pigment does the trick. Although, using an eyeliner and the pearl pigment looks nice as well, as you can see on my second makeup look.

IT’S SKIN BABY FACE CREAMY LIPLINER #CORAL PEACH
Whether you want to change the shape of your lips or not, a lipliner does an excellent job in defining the lip shape. It is best used sharpened/pointed.

A;T FOX LIP & CHEEK DESIGNER PENCIL #03 LOSE BEIGE
I really love this shade, like wow, it’s like a shiny, velvety lipstick. I used the Laneige lip mask from the Pink Vibes box prior to applying this lip pencil in order to achieve a moisturized and plump look. A lip gloss would do the trick too.

I really like this lip pencil which is why it makes me sad that it got smudged while I was trying to keep it out of my baby’s reach. However, that’s not really a problem as I can just use a sharpener or use a brush to apply it on my lips for the meantime.

ABOUT THIS MAKEUP LOOK
This makeup look is now my favorite, it is my first time achieving the dewy Korean look. However, my first attempt at using these makeup was not as nice as the second time although I suspect it is my hair that ruins the look as it hides my face.

VIDEO
Hope you enjoyed the video as I still cannot get over at how well I did this time’s makeup, I think I finally found the right makeup for me.
