LAUNCHING OF ANIMAHENASYON 2016, A CELEBRATION OF INSPIRATION, CREATION AND ANIMATION

“YOU HAVE A STORY TO TELL AND EVERYONE ATTENDING THE ANIMAHENASYON 2016 WILL BE INTERESTED TO SEE IT WITH THEIR OWN EYES.”

DEAR DREAMERS
I have always been fond of animation, be it anime or cartoons, which is why I am excited to share you Animahenasyon 2016, an animation festival which aims to celebrate animation in the Philippines as well as to move the industry forward, giving way to a new generation of animators by providing them with opportunities and insightful knowledge originating from professional animators who have had their work showcased in different parts of the globe.

Do you have a story to tell? Unleash and impart your imagination and creativity beyond the comforts of your mind at this year’s animation festival, Animahenasyon 2016. The Animation Council of the Philippines, Inc. (ACPI), together with the Department of Information and Communications Technology (DICT), Embassy of Spain and SM Retail Inc., is set to hold Animahenasyon 2016: “Inspiration. Creation. Animation.” on November 22-24, 2016 at the Samsung Hall, SM Aura in Bonifacio Global City, Taguig.

“We envision the 10th anniversary of Animahenasyon to be the largest event of its kind in the country. It is our way to celebrate our animators, and at the same time, our way to create a venue for learning for our students and professionals. Promoting original content creation is also one of the major goals of this yearly gathering.” said Juan Miguel del Rosario, ACPI President.

Featuring an exhibition, plenary sessions, workshops and even a cosplay event, this year’s animation festival will not only showcase the best animators of the Philippines, but it will bring in world-renowned professionals who could impart and inspire the next generation of animators in the country.

Excited yet? If you wish to have your work showcased, interested participants may send their entries to Animahenasyon until October 7. A total of 11 awards will be given to winners on the festival’s culminating activity. Aside from the conference and competitions, films screenings are scheduled on November 26, 2016 at DLS-CSB.

Universal Robina Corporation (URC) is also hosting its own competition, encouraging student animators to produce short animated films. The film must be intertwined with the campaign of URC’s chocolate brand Jack ‘n Jill Chooey, Chooey Wowow World. Encouraging kids to enjoy creative and imaginative play, Chooey Wowow World celebrates a fun and playful world of chocolate goodness. Ten Chooey Wowow World contest finalists will win cash prizes on top of gaining the opportunity to produce their animated short fims.

Notes
I attended the media launch of Animahenasyon 2016 which was held at the Ludo Board Game Bar & Bistro, Bel-Air, Makati City last September 28, 2016. One of my pregnancy food cravings are ribs so I was really happy to dig in. I am currently seven months pregnant, my pullover sweater which I wore on my Lacy Cat outfit really hides that baby bump well. Thank you Ms. Joie of ACPI for accommodating me!
