To those who also love buffets, especially affordable ones, Cabalen is no stranger to our ears. Cabalen is no doubt one of the most affordable buffets around. Priding in providing quality Filipino food prepared with top-notch food safety and cleanliness procedures, Cabalen offers Filipinos a taste of Pampanga without burdening the pockets of food lovers all around.

Cabalen not only offers Filipino dishes; Isaac and I were invited to try Cabalen’s Filipino-Asian buffet at Megamall. Isaac has been to their first branch at West Avenue for numerous times during his childhood so it has been quite the nostalgic visit for him.

Their interior has a somewhat traditional Filipino design that will surely make you feel at home.

Bulalo soup, sushi, pancit, tempura, lechon, sisig, snails (yes, snails!) and more awaited us at the buffet spread.

I am the type who cannot pick just one favorite and a few dishes have certainly caught my eye. I liked the kare-kare, more specifically, the kare-kare sauce which is to be expected; after all, they pride themselves as having the best kare-kare. The sisig caught my eye so I had the bangus sisig, I wanted to try the tofu sisig but I was too full to do so. Feasting on their sisig does not seem like a bad idea especially if you like sisig. Their fried kangkong and ripe mango shake (P85) is also good. As for desserts, I just had to have halo-halo.
I have mentioned in my Food Alley post that I am not the type who can stomach guts so as you can guess, I cannot stomach snails either. Isaac, on the other hand, could not get enough of the snails. It was plate after plate of snails for him.
Overall, the ambiance is great. Families will surely enjoy one another’s company in the midst of good food and homely decoration at Cabalen.
