Some By Mi AHA BHA PHA Real Cica 92% Cool Calming Soothing Gel Review

DEAR DREAMERS
SomeByMi recently gifted me a SomeByMi AHA BHA PHA Real Cica 92% Cool Calming Soothing Gel in exchange for my honest review. I've previously bought and reviewed SomeByMi's Truecica Mineral 100 Suncream which I absolutely love. SomeByMi is one of my favorite Korean brands because their products work well with sensitive skin while soothing it.

Soothes irritated skin
Gently exfoliates the skin from dead skin cells and impurities
Boosts moisture

If you're still confused about the differences between AHA, BHA and PHA, read my simple explanation of AHA, BHA & PHA and why you need to start adding them to your skincare routine.

Cautions
Despite being able to soothe irritated skin, you should avoid applying it to areas where you have a scar, eczema or dermatitis.

Problematic area
My nose is one of my most problematic areas, it’s prone to blackheads and clogged pores which is partly due to sweating a lot on top of me having to wear eyeglasses. It is also a lot rougher compared to my other areas especially if I don’t regularly exfoliate.

Review
I tried opting out of my usual chemical exfoliator and tried using the SomeByMi Soothing Gel regularly during mornings and nights. I did this to see how my skin would fare if I solely rely on the chemical exfoliators of the soothing gel. Compared to my chemical exfoliator, the soothing gel has a lower percentage of the chemical exfoliators (10ppm each). After a few days of religiously using the soothing gel, my nose feels a lot less rough, gone were the whiteheads.

Thoughts and impressions
If you're used to using aloe gels, you'll find some similarities with this cica gel and some differences as well. Overall, the SomeByMi AHA BHA PHA Real Cica 92% Cool Calming Soothing Gel has a lot more functions. It is green in color and is darker than the aloe gel. I love the cooling effect it has on the skin. It feels light on the skin and leaves no sticky feeling. During mornings, I use only a small amount on my face but at night, I apply a more generous amount to prevent my skin from drying since it's cold where I sleep at night.

  1. Can you review if the gel have a long lasting moisturizing effects on skin or not? If yes for how long? And how do you feel after putting this gel as sleeping mask the next morning?

    1. I've tried using only the gel alone, without using ampoules, serums and other moisturizers. It performs well for my oily skin, it has long lasting moisturizing effects. As for how long, the most I've gone is for 12 hours before prepping my skin for sleep. As for a sleeping mask, it doesn't perform as well as products meant to be used as sleeping masks where the products are much denser. If you don't move around a lot while sleeping, it can still provide ample amount of moisture boosting if you put a thick enough amount of the product on the skin. Hope this helps! 💕💕

    2. hey is this suitable for oily skin? does it reduce sebum production?

    3. Hello! I have oily skin and it works well with it. It contains 3 chemical exfoliators so if your oily skin is also acne-prone then you'll benefit from it. When I use it, my skin doesn't turn greasy but I'm not sure about it having sebum production control. This soothing gel doesn't dry out the skin so you don't have to worry about your skin overproducing sebum to make up for it. Hope this helps! 💕💕

    1. I paired this product with the Some By Mi Truecica Mineral 100 Suncream. I actually bought this suncream first before I used the soothing gel. They're both great skin soothers and work well with each other.
